I’m sorry to have to tell readers of the Guardian’s long-running Ask Jack column that its much-loved creator, Jack Schofield, died on Tuesday.
Jack was taken to hospital on Friday night time following a coronary heart assault and died on Tuesday afternoon.
Jack spanned many various editors over his 37 years on the Guardian, together with his previous few with me. He will likely be sorely missed by these of us that knew him on the Guardian, however most of all by his readers.
To those that have learn, commented and emailed Ask Jack during the last 20 years, we need to thanks for being a part of it.
Jack leaves behind an in depth archive of columns and plenty of extra items earlier than that within the paper and courting all the way in which again to 1989 in his on-line archive. He is not going to be forgotten.
